ABSTRACT

Hepatitis was hepatic illness caused by HBV viruses or HCV, which could be acute or chronic for a long time. The purpose of this research was to detect hepatitis B and C in hemodialysis patients using a rapid test to estimate interferon in their serum as a marker for infection. One hundred blood samples were collected from hemodialysis patients in order to detect hepatitis B and C using a suitable kit, and the interferon level was determined using ELIZA. Fourteen per cent infection was observed with hepatitis C and 6% with hepatitis B. The infection in male and females showed significant value among patients and control in cytokine estimation due to the role of viruses.
