ABSTRACT

Aeroponic technology involves growing the plantlets in mid-air to produce minitubers that are suspended in air. The objective of the study was to assess the performance of three popular potato cultivars viz., Kufri Jyoti, Kufri Pukhraj and Kufri Khyati under aeroponics production system. Among these, KufrriPukhraj and KufriKhyati were reported to perfrom well under aeroponic system. The rate of multiplication in aeroponics ranged from 30-70 minitubers per plant as compared to 8 to 15 tubers per plant in a conventional system of potato seed production which might be associated with greater water and nutrient use efficiencies and less water consumption with an increased nutrient availability in re- circulated systems. The delayed planting had ensured better tuberization and high harvesting index, further wider spacing had also resulted in high value of tuberization and harvesting index.
