ABSTRACT

The present study was conducted to identify stable genotypes of bread wheat for their suitability in multiple environments. Two bread wheat genotypes (HI 977 and HD 2329) along with their 160 RIL populations and three replicated checks were grown at three different agro-climatic conditions viz., Directorate of Wheat Research, Karnal; Agharkar Research Institute, Pune and Agricultural Research Farm, Kota. Based on regression coefficient (bi) and mean deviation from regression (S2di) of six characters, stable genotypes in different environments, genotypes for favourable and unfavourable environments were found. Based on genetic distance and cluster means, the present investigation suggests that hybridization between cluster III (for SV, BLV and BQ), cluster IX (for HLW) and cluster X (for HLW and TKW) might produce desired recombinants for different quality traits.
