Growth Rate Analysis of Pearl Millet in Jhunjhunu District of Rajasthan

ABSTRACT

The present study was conducted in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan state. Jhunjhunu Tehsil in Jhunjhunu district and two villages from Jhunjhunu Tehsil were selected on the basis of highest area under pearl millet. The analysis of data revealed that the area under pearl millet in Rajasthan was 40,76,909 ha and Jhunjhunu district had 2,28,592 ha which was 5.61% of total area under pearl millet in the state for the year 2014-15. The compound growth rate in area, production and productivity of pearl millet in Jhunjhunu district and Rajasthan revealed that the production and productivity in Jhunjhunu district registered a positive growth rate and area under pearl millet registered a negative growth rate. The analysis of compound growth rates for Rajasthan state revealed that the production and productivity registered positive growth rates. However, area declined by 1.1% which was, however, non-significant.
