ABSTRACT

6-Benzyleaminopurine or BAP is a synthetic cytokinin that promotes plant growth and development by stimulating cell
division. It is the plant growth regulator which has been successfully used in several tissue culture studies to induce adventitious shoot formation and to promote apical and axillary shoot proliferation under in vitro condition. The success of tissue culture of several medicinal plants depends upon the use of BAP in their culture medium. This article highlights on the use of BAP in tissue culture of medicinal plants.
