ABSTRACT
Agricultural production systems should be directed to higher productivity, environmental safety and ensuring food security in changing climatic scenarios to avoid the risk of crop failure. For more resilient agricultural production systems, management of natural resources (land, water, soil and energy), increased efficiency and alternative strategies are required to make farming adaptive to adverse weather. Simulation studies were conducted for three agro-ecological regions of Bihar and it was observed that in anticipated conditions of climate change, grain yield of rice and wheat crops may decline up to 37 and 39% during 2080s, respectively. With adoption of adaptation strategies like changes in dates of sowing and nitrogen application, the risk can be reduced in future.
