ABSTRACT
The present research investigation on response of ethephon was conducted in guava orchard for two consecutive years in Malwa region during the years 2017 and 2018 under Department of Horticulture, School of Agriculture, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. Guava orchard was well maintained under traditional and uniform cultural practices suitable for commercial fruit production. There were total five treatments including control with three replications and data obtained were analyzed according to complete randomized block design. Ethephon was sprayed during mid-November (during both the years of study) on randomly selected guava trees for enhancing the ripening @ 250, 500, 750 and 1000 ppm concentrations and the fruits were harvested after 15 days when they had attained uniform size and maturity. It could be the concluded from current studies that lower concentration i. e. 250 ppm ethephon was proved to be the best in maintaining firmness, palatability rating and less PLW (%) with less spoilage (%). On the contrary, higher dose of ethephon @ 1000 ppm was effective in terms of improved TSS, vitamin C and total sugars throughout the ambient storage period.
