ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted during the year 2013-14 at Urban Technology Park, Division of Vegetable Science, Habbak, Srinagar. The carrot stecklings were graded into four classes with respect to their weights. Each of the four grades of stecklings was transplanted at four different spacings. Highest 100-seed weight of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel; seed germination percentage of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel; seedling vigour index I of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel and seedling vigour index II of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel were recorded in S4 (widest spacing). The large steckling size (Z2) recorded the highest for 100-seed weight of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel, seed germination percentage of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel, seedling vigour index I of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel and seedling vigour index II of primary umbel, secondary umbel and tertiary umbel.
