ABSTRACT
Plants are a source of different plant biomolecules, which also act as reducing, capping and stabilizing agents for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles. In this study, the leaf extract of weeds, namely, Asphodelus tenuifolius, Argemone mexicana, Chenopodium album and Datura metel was employed for nano-silver synthesis without adding any reducing, capping and stabilizing agents as the extract obtained from these weeds acted as a reducing agent. Silver nanoparticles were subjected to UV-Visible analysis for the confirmation of silver nanoparticles synthesis. Transmission electron microscopy showed spherical shapes of silver nanoparticles with a mean size of 39 nm (Argemone mexicana), 22 nm (Asphodelus tenuifolius), 30 nm (Chenopodium album) and 13 nm (Datura metel). This was an initiative of expanding the applications of silver nanoparticles using the extract of weeds in different fields of bio-nanotechnology.
