Assessment of Dietary Pattern of Students of SGT University

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to assess the food consumption pattern of students of SGT University. Students who study in universities are in the age of twenties, young with good energy but with less concern to health
and more concern for body figure. Therefore, in the present study, 100 students (18-25 years) from the SGT University were selected to assess their eating pattern. The results showed that majority (61 and 55%
of girls and boys, respectively) belonged to normal range i. e (BMI =18.5-24.99). During study, it was observed that 81% of boys and 91% of girls daily ate cereals and 74% of boys and only 55% of girls daily
consumed pulses. Only 71% boys consumed vegetables as compared to girls, whose intake was 78%. However, with regard to green leafy vegetable (GLV) boys’ daily consumption was higher i. e. 55% as compared to girls’ 36% only, which was very low. More number of boys i. e. 71% and girls 57% consumed dairy products daily.
