ABSTRACT

Vegetables are considered essential for well balanced diet. The production and marketing of vegetable crops are undergoing continuous change globally. This is mainly due to the growing demand of healthy vegetables. Vegetable crops are attacked by a large number of diseases. Among the vegetables, legumes play an important role in our daily diet but sometimes yield will be hampered due to the several diseases like powdery mildew, downy mildew, anthracnose, collar rot, root rot, vascular wilt, etc. To control these diseases through agronomical measures, chemical control leads to higher cash of producer, environmental pollution and sometimes use of fungicide and chemical has carcinogenic effect on the human being. Hence, to get quality produce, development of biotic and abiotic stress resistance variety is the only solution to overcome these problems.
