ABSTRACT
Fashion accessory is an item used to contribute, in a secondary manner, to the wearer’s outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearer’s look. Fashion accessories are vital for fashion design in terms of creating the total look and presenting a fashion statement. Accessories had a decorative role and that was particularly so in the case of jewellery. The present study was planned to determine the preference of fashion accessories among college going girls. A questionnaire survey was undertaken to collect data from the respondents. The research question included that the use of fashion accessories, preferred accessories for different occasions, most preferred category of accessories, inspiration for use of accessories, money spent per month on accessories and time spent on purchasing of fashion accessories, etc. The results of the study indicated that most preferred category of accessories by the respondents was footwear and they got inspired about accessories from friends and media because they were young and most of them had grown up with television, the Internet and had been exposed to the standards of living, so they got an idea and inspiration about accessories from that media.
