ABSTRACT

Salvia plebeia R. Br. is most viable herb, commonly known as sage weed and belongs to family Lamiaceae. The present study was planned to identify phytocompounds by GC-MS, present in ethanolic extract of S. plebeia. GC-MS chromatogram of plant extract revealed the presence of 18 different phytoconstituents with their respective retention time (RT) and % of total. The spectra of the phytoconstituents were matched with NIST library in the X calibur software of GC-MS apparatus and some of the identified components possessed pharmacological actions as per literature available.
