ABSTRACT

An experiment was carried out to study the screening of mustard varieties against aphid, Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.) at Agricultural Research Farm, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India during rabi 2016-18. Fourteen agronomically suitable varieties of Indian mustard were screened under natural and artificial infestations. The relative preference of the mustard aphid to the selected varieties was judged on basis of natural population build-up in field condition and also on basis of rate of multiplication of mustard aphid under field and glasshouse condition. The result revealed that, on the basis of population build-up, variety Kranti was most preferred followed by Rohini. The effect of varieties on aphid multiplication rate was maximum in Kranti and minimum in NDR-8501.
