ABSTRACT
Phytochemical groups are the dependable foundations for the treatment of different health problems. The
present study deals with the phytochemical screening of leaves of some selected wild medicinal plants like
Argemone mexicana, Adhatoda vasica, Berberis lycium, Bergenia ciliata, Betula utilis, Cannabis sativa,
Dioscorea deltoidea, Ficus religiosa, Hedychium spicatum, Leycestera formosa, Picrorhiza kurroa, Phytolacca
acinosa, Rhododendron arboretum, Rhus parviflora, Trillium govanianum, Thymus serphyllum, Verbascum
thapsus, Valeriana jatamansi, Vitex negundo and Zanthoxylem armatum. Methanolic (90%) extracts of dried
leaf powders have been screened for qualitative determination of different secondary metabolites like
tannins, terpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, reducing sugar, steroids and alkaloids. All plant materials were
collected during 2017-18 from study site.
