ABSTRACT

To investigate the effect of nano-fertilizers on grain yield and qualitative traits of grain sorghum (the commercial cultivar of Payam) under different drought stress conditions, a survey in the summer of 2016 and 2017 in Sistan region was performed in a randomized complete block design with split plots in four replications. The main plots consisted of three stress levels [drought stress before flowering, drought stress after flowering and no stress (complete irrigation)], and sub-plots including five levels (micro-nano fertilizer, macro-nano fertilizer, micro-nano fertilizer together with macro-nano fertilizer, chemical fertilizers and control). Grain sorghum developmental stages were affected by the stresses and fertilizers. Grain yield, harvest index, seed diameter, protein per cent, grain carbohydrate, grain fiber, grain ash and protein yield were measured. Based on the results, both drought stress and nano fertilizers had a significant effect on all traits. Furthermore, the interaction effects of drought stress and nano-fertilizers were significant on all traits in each two-year period, except for the harvest index and grain carbohydrate per cent. The highest grain yield was obtained from non-stress + chemical fertilizer treatments.
