ABSTRACT
Molecular detection of biofilm production genes of Staphylococcus haemolyticus isolated from bed ulcer or pressure ulcer are a serious healthcare problem with variable consequences both for patient and for
the healthcare system, mainly affect patient that require bed rest. The study was aimed at investigating the role of biofilm formation in bacterial ulcer infection. Therefore, 82 of swabs were collected from bed
ulcer and cultured on suitable media; the primary identification depended on morphological and culture characters, biochemical test and finally identification with vitek-2 system. All bacterial isolates were collected, 57 (47.9%) were gram positive, and only 30 (25.2%) were identified as Staphylococcus haemolyticus. Genetically, PCR technique was used to study atlE, icaD and aap genes encoding biofilm formation. S. haemolyticus pathogenicity the results indicated that all isolates (100%) carried atlE genes, 28 (93%) isolates gave positive result of icaD gene and aap gene were found in 8 (27%) of bacterial isolates.
