ABSTRACT

The aim of the present research work was to estimate the length-weight relationship (LWR) of 10 coldwater fish species viz., Schizothorax richardsonii, Schizothorax plagiostomus, Tor putitora, Tor tor, Botia almorhae, Glyptothorax pectinopterus, Pseudecheneis sulcata, Rita rita, Cyprinius carpio and Labeo rohita from the upper Ganga basin. Fish sample was collected monthly from October 2016 to November 2018, with the help of different fishing gears, cast nets (mesh size : 2.5 m), gill net (mesh : 50-100 mm) and electro fishing with the help of garmin fish finder. The ‘b’ values of the LWR estimated ranged from 2.811 for Schizothorax richardsonii, 2.825 for Schizothorax plagiostomus, 2.980 for Tor putitora, 2.971 for Tor tor, 2.810 for Botia almorhae, 3.070 for Glyptothorax pectinopterus, 2.990 for Pseudecheneis sulcata, 2.961 for Rita rita, 2.634 for Cyprinius carpio and 2.801 for Labeo rohita, respectively.
